Tax time for Crist; he awaits Rubio
In the spirit of the season, Gov. Charlie Crist released his last 10 years of tax returns.
Although not required, Crist released his returns along with his Financial Disclosure forms with the Florida Commission on Ethics.
Crist's latest return, from 2008, shows him filing separately from his wife, Carole Lynn Crist. The "Married, Filing Separately" status usually indicates a large disparity between spousal incomes.
Crist listed his gross income in 2008 as $133,527 and owes Uncle Sam $1,438. The governor claimed just $1,104 in deductions (general sales taxes). He has never owned a home.
Marco Rubio, Crist's opponent in the U.S. Senate race, has said he would release his returns, and the Crist campaign calls on him to match Crist's disclosures without delay.
