Tar Balls Hitting Destin? Nope

They're heeeeere.

Oh, wait. Never mind.

Earlier today, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service posted a tweet about tar balls washing ashore in Destin, which were thought to be from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Turns out, none of that was true.

"Sources have verified that news about tar balls on Destin Beach was a mistake in our daily report," read a later USFWS tweet. "Apologies for the inconvenience!!"

Meanwhile, actual tar balls have been found on beaches in Louisiana and Alabama. In Gulf Shores, Ala., people have discovered larger chunks of tar said to weigh at least five pounds.
