Supreme Court Action Could Raise Complaints Against Martin Memorial
Martin Memorial Medical Center may face multiple complaints because the state Supreme Court wouldnt overrule a lower court order that allows a womans estate to proceed with its claim she contracted a highly contagious infection while in the hospital's care, TCPalm.com reports.
The Supreme Court, without issuing an opinion on Nov. 7, indicated the high court would not consider the hospital's petition for review of a 4th District Court of Appeal decision that found a judge in 2009 erred when he threw out a negligence lawsuit filed by Louise Webster, now deceased, TCPalm.com reports.
Webster's Stuart lawyer Gloria Seidule said now that Martin Memorial has exhausted all appeals, it may have to litigate multiple complaints filed by former patients claiming the hospital failed to prevent the transmission of MRSA.
