Stop the Presses! Newspaper Admits It Was Wrong, Rick Scott Was Right
Like the rest of the mainstream media, the Fort Myers News-Press rarely misses an opportunity to attack Rick Scott.
The paper's editorial board blasted the governor earlier this year when he vetoed $4.5 million in funds to fit out Florida Gulf Coast University's health professions building.
But unlike so many of their MSM compadres, the News-Press editorialists last week admitted they were wrong.
"The governor was insisting through his line-item veto power that more cuts were possible. Turns out he was right, at least in this case, and the critics -- including this newspaper -- were wrong," the paper stated.
The News-Press noted that university President Wilson Bradshaw came up with the extra money by postponing a south access road to campus, a boardwalk connecting residence halls with the main campus and solar panels for the health building.
"Those cuts are quite bearable while the state rides out this revenue crunch," the paper now says. Ah, the voice of reason.
