Stimulus Fizzle for Florida Sparks Blast from Marco Rubio Camp

With a report in USA Today ranking Florida as the state least helped by the federal stimulus, the team of U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio is unleashing heavy fire on the Democrats who backed it -- as well as the then-Republican and now independent Gov. Charlie Crist. Crist, who is running for the Senate as well, embraced the stimulus, being one of President Barack Obamas biggest Republican supporters on the issue.

Back when he was saying and doing anything to help President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid get the stimulus passed, Charlie Crist promised Floridians it would create jobs and that he would help Florida get her fair share. Nearly 18 months later, its clear that, much like everything else in the Obama-Crist economy, Charlie Crist has failed to deliver, said Alex Burgos, a spokesman for the Rubio campaign.

Whether its President Obama in Washington or Charlie Crist in Tallahassee, its clear that the economic prescription of wasteful stimulus spending, higher taxes, more debt, cap-and-trade energy taxes and bailouts has failed to create the jobs we desperately need, continued Burgos. Marco Rubio is the only candidate Floridians can trust to go to Washington as a check-and-balance and offer a clear pro-jobs alternative.
