Steve Southerland Tours Port Panama City

U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Fla., headed to Panama City Friday where he toured Port Panama City. The event, held by the National Federation of Independent Business/Florida (NFIB), brought Southerland togetherwith small-business owners to discuss the challenges they face due to unnecessary government regulation.

As the owner of a small business in Florida, I recognize the obstacles imposed by overregulation. It is imperative that we understand the connection between our successful small businesses and the many jobs they create in our state, Southerland said. Easing the regulatory burden on small businesses benefits all of us, and I am dedicated to raising awareness about this issue and helping identify and alleviate the regulatory problems that negatively impact our small-business owners.

"There are a myriad of new regulations being passed down from Capitol Hill every day, creating even more obstacles for our states small-business owners, said NFIB/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle. This administration must take action on common-sense regulatory reform that helps America's small businesses and promotes long-term economic growth. We are proud to work with Congressman Southerland to bring attention to the adverse impacts of overregulation.
