Steve Southerland Backs Karen Harrington to Challenge Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland announced on Tuesday that he is backing businesswoman Karen Harrington to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Wasserman Schultz is the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. Harrington ran against her in 2010 but she faces a crowded primary field in order to obtain a rematch.

I want to serve with members of Congress who understand the brutal realities of running a business and how those principles can be adopted to help us run a better country, Southerland said in a statement. Karen does that, and I am thrilled to support her and endorse her.

I am very appreciative of Congressman Southerlands endorsement of our campaign for Congress, Harrington said.Congressman Southerland has been a relentless fighter for fiscal responsibility and job creation, and I look forward to working with him in Congress after we have defeated Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
