Steve Southerland Attacks Harry Reid on Budget
On Tuesday, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland bashed U.S. Senate Majority Harry Reid, D-Nev., and the Democrats controlling the Senate for not passing a yearly budget in 888 days.
As a third-generation small-business owner, I understand how important a budget is for any successful organization.A budget helps identify major priorities, sets financial parameters, and maximizes an organizations ability to achieve its objectives over the coming year.Without a budget, an organization loses focus and ignores cost considerations, said Southerland in a statement. Unfortunately, thats just what the American people have seen in the 888 days since Majority Leader Reid and the Democrat-controlled Senate approved a constitutionally-mandated yearly budget. In the meantime, the House has passed a common-sense budget, along with a dozen other pro-growth bills, that still await action in the Senate.Enough of the short-term spending stopgaps. Its time for the Senate to get back to work so the American people can do the same.
