Steve Crisafulli: Validation Study and Lawmakers Have Strengthened Florida Accountability System

House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island, seemed pretty happy about Tuesday's announcement declaring the Florida Standards Assessment a valid test. 

Crisafulli issued the following statement on the validity study:

 “I was pleased to see the results of the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) study conducted by Alpine Testing Solutions confirmed the validity of the FSA. We can have confidence that the FSA is accurately measuring student learning gains and can be used to issue school grades and teacher evaluations."

Crisafulli said the test as well as the state Legislature have done their part in "strenghtening" Florida's accountability system. 

"The Alpine study did highlight important problems that occurred with the administration of the FSA, and I believe the Department of Education and the test vendor must work together to resolve these issues moving forward," he continued. "The Florida House will continue to support standards and accountability measures that provide our students with a first-rate education and prepare them for success in today’s world.”
