State Inspectors Denied Records at Tampa Veterans Hospital

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration was turned away from reviewing records at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa on Wednesday.

The Agency attempted to complete an on-site review Wednesday morning and again were declined the opportunity to review any records at that time.

Gov. Rick Scott ordered the inspections after reports surfaced that veterans died or were injured due to delays in treatment for cancer. The governor has been crusading for the investigations, but state inspectors have been repeatedly denied records from various hospitals across the state.

VA officials released findings of a report on Mondayshowing three veterans died and nine were injured as the result of delays involving the VAs Sunshine Healthcare Network, which serves Florida, south Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.

This morning, two surveyors went to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital at 9:41 a.m. and left at 10:02 a.m. after being declined the opportunity to review any processes," AHCASecretary Elizabeth Dudek said."Despite being turned away a third time from a third VA hospital, the agency remains firmly committed to helping obtain the necessary information that can help ensure our brave veterans receive the care they deserve when visiting a federal VA hospital in Florida.
