State Board of Education to Meet in Tampa

The state Board of Education will meet in Tampa next week to discuss a variety of education policies, including Common Core and new assessment tests to measure academic achievement for Florida's students.

According to a press release from the Florida Department of Education, discussed will be action related to confirmation that the state board will not adopt Common Core State Standards appendices, Common Core sample performance tasks, Common Core samples of student writing and designed high school math courses. An amendment of the state board rule on implementation of Florida's system of school improvement and accountability will also be discussed at the meeting.

The meeting will be held Tuesday morning at the Tampa Airport Marriott.
