St. Lucie Elections Supervisor: Allen West’s Claims a ‘Very Low Blow’
St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker has dismissed claims by U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Palm Beach Gardens, on how her office handled the election in his close contest on Tuesday.
I certainly feel that none of (the accusations) are valid, Walker told Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers. I feel that the process went as it should have.
As far as the chaos part, I think that describes the election process regardless of where its being conducted, Walker added in the interview. I wont even respond to the incompetence. Thats a very low blow.
Walker has agreed to seal a room in the Fort Pierce elections office where ballots and machines are located as West has called for a recount even though the numbers are not within the margin required.
West has also filed motions for injunctions to impound ballots and voting machines in preparation for a recount.
The Florida Democratic Party has called on West to concede.
Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers has reported that State Sen. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, addressed those attending Wests victory party at the Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort and Marina as West never left a room where he was watching the results on Tuesday night.
