Spending in CD 18 Race Reached $109 Per Vote

U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Palm Beach Gardens, spent $109.90 per vote in his unsuccessful bid for the new Congressional District 18 seat, according to the Sun Sentinel.

The total doesnt include money from special interests that flooded into the northern Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast district.

Democrat Patrick Murphy spent $25.05 per vote in his winning effort.

Overall, for the entire campaign, West raised $19.1 million and Murphy took in $4.3 million, the Sentinel wrote. On Nov. 26, Murphy had $314,231 in the bank and West had a much more significant amount more than $1.5 million that can be used for future political activities.
