The Spaceman Comes in Peace
This morninga group of legislators held a press conference on the fourth floor lobbyof the House promoting legislation sponsored by Sen. Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, to offer tax breaks and other incentives to develop the entertainment industry in Florida and lure new jobs to the state. Flanked by posters for the movie Marley and Me, the TV show Burn Notice and the most recent college football video game fromEA Sports, the assembled senators and representatives said they were excited by this bi-partisan effort to help Florida.
Then, the astronaut walked in.
A man in an astronaut suit, complete with helmet, shuffled off the elevator only to realize the "Space Days" exhibit was on the third floor and promptly went right back into the elevator.
Since the gaggle of politicians paid the lost astronaut no attention, it's fair to say that the Florida Legislature is one of the few places in the world where an astronaut getting off at the wrong floor is not considered unusual.
