South Florida Firefighters Back Gelber for Attorney General
Big pickup for Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, in his bid to win the Democratic nomination for attorney general. Gelber, who is in a close battle with Sen. Dave Aronberg, D-Greenacres, won the support of the South Florida Council of Firefighters Tuesday morning.
Our council is proud to endorse Dan Gelber as Floridas next attorney general, said Council President Dean Parkeson. Dan has proven he understands the issues firefighters face day in and day out and I know he will fight for us in Tallahassee. His record as a top prosecutor and his experience in strengthening emergency response efforts will serve Dan well as he confronts the growing challenges of our state as attorney general.
Public safety is a top priority of mine and I look forward to working alongside the firefighter community to ensure that our brave men and women have the tools in place to keep our communities safe and protected, said Gelber.
With Gelber and Aronberg locked in a close race, a number of organizations --like the Florida AFL-CIO and the Florida Education Association --are simply saying they will back the winner of the primary. With very little difference on the issues between Gelber and Aronberg, and the two campaigns remaining very cordial so far, every endorsement counts in the contest for the Democratic attorney general nod. Gelber scored a big one this morning.
