Social Conservatives Will Protest Gay Days Event at Disney From the Air

David Caton from the Florida Family Association (FFA) announced on Thursday that his organization has raised more money and will rent airplanes with banners to warn families about Gay Day at Disney 10 hours per day on both Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. The banners, which were originally going to be run for a few hours, will read WARNING GAY PRIDE DAY @DISNEY JUNE 4 on that Friday and WARNING GAY PRIDE DAY@DISNEY 2DAY on that Saturday. Caton announced that his organization had reached double the amount they initially were hoping to raise for the banners.

While Disney is not sponsoring the event, the Orlando-based Gay Days Inc. has been holding the event at the Magic Kingdom for almost two decades and estimated that their events bring in tens of thousands of visitors in the region and $600 million in the economy.

Caton repeated his assertion that 10,000 families leave the Magic Kingdom on the Gay Days event.

Florida Family Association wants to warn these families about this offensive event before they arrive at the Magic Kingdom on Saturday, noted Caton. This airplane banner is our best effort to accomplish that goal.

Caton repeated his call for Disney officials to hold the event after regular hours.
