Sky Is Falling Again: Florida Educrats Want State to Pick Up After Feds

With federal stimulus funds petering out in June, Florida school districts are cranking up their never-ending campaign for more money.

The credulous stenographers at the Miami Herald quoted Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho's tired woe-is-us spiel, warning of "draconian cuts" if the state doesn't come up with money to compensate for the impending loss of stimulus dollars.

While proving the foolishness of depending on federal largess, the educrats' pleas of poverty fly in the face of a yet another study that finds no correlation between education spending and academic results. It found that only 17 percent of the state's school districts in the top third in spending were also in the top third in achievement.

Florida's statist media haven't done anything with this report -- even though the study was conducted by a left-leaning think tank -- but Sunshine State News has.

Read about it here Wednesday.
