Sites Across Florida Added to National Register of Historic Places
On Thursday, Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner announced sites across the Sunshine State have been added to the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places.

“I am pleased to announce the listing of these historic Florida resources on the National Register of Historic Places,” Detzner said. “These properties are an important reminder of the resilience of Florida residents throughout the state’s history.”
The new additions to the National Register of Historic Places include the Cape San Blas Lighthouse in Port St. Joe; the Axline House in Alachua County right next to the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park; the Hopper Academy in Sanford; the Hawthorne Cemetery in Hawthorne; and the Fruitland Park Community Center in Lake County.
