Serial Adulterer Newt Gingrich Flirts With 'Fidelity Pledge'

Three weeks away from the first presidential caucuses, thrice-married Newt Gingrich says he supports a fidelity pledge by a conservative Iowa family group. But he has yet to sign it.

The GOP front-runner, who carried on multi-year affairs during his first two marriages, wrote an email to The Family Leader organization, pledging "to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others."

Gingrich married his current wife, Callista, who is 23 years his junior, in 2000 after a seven-year affair whilst he was still with his second wife, Marianne Ginther, the U.K. Daily Mail reported.

He also started his relationship with Ginther before divorcing his first wife, Jackie Battley. While that affair resulted in his second marriage, another former girlfriend recently came forward saying that they also had a fleeting affair in 1977 while he was still married to Battley, the Daily Mail said.

Though Gingrich did not formally sign the Family Leader pledge -- as his competitors Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum have -- the former House speaker went through each of the organization's principles one by one and said that he would uphold them.
