Senate Recognizes Families of Two Florida Medal of Honor Recipients

The Florida Senate recognized the parents of Army Sgt. First Class Paul Ray Smith and Army Staff Sgt. Robert J. Miller, both U.S. Medal of Honor recipients.
Smith, a Tampa resident and a member of Company B, 11th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, died after exposing himself repeatedly to enemy fire in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 4, 2003.
Miller, a resident of Oviedo who enlisted in the Army in 2003, was a member of Company A, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, who died saving the lives of more than 20 soldiers during a battle Jan. 25, 2008, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.
Today is National Guard Day at the Capitol.
