Senate Parking Garage Closed for Structural Damage

The undergound parking garage below the Florida Senate has been temporarily closed while Capitol management services reinforces the structure of the building.

Department of Management Services spokesperson Maggie Mickler said water intrusion was the primary cause of the closure.

“The original waterproofing system has reached the end of its life and the structure is showing signs of water intrusion,” Mickler said. “The design of the new waterproofing solution was nearing completion.”

The House parking garage will also be repaired.
