Senate Hopeful Craig Miller Jabs Obama and Nelson on NLRB
Restaurant executive Craig Miller, who is in a crowded Republican primary field looking to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, took aim at a proposal from the National Labor Relations Board that will reduce union elections to a 10-day period. The NLRB is expected to pass that change on Wednesday.
The problem with shrinking the timeline for union elections is that it gives an enormous advantage to the union, who could be working behind the scenes for months, without the employer having any idea, Miller said in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon. The change would make it nearly impossible for employers to negotiate in good faith and appeal to the union members. This is a blatant attempt to give unions an unfair competitive advantage. The Obama/Nelson big-labor appeasers are looking to shore up some of their biggest financial contributors prior to the next election, and it is just wrong and will have a negative effect on American businesses. As the only candidate in this race that has a sustained track record of job creation in the private sector, I know that new regulations will do nothing to create the jobs that our economy so desperately needs.
