Senate Candidate Ron Rushing Pushes the FairTax

Ron Rushing, a businessman who is running in a crowded Republican primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, appeared on the Ray Junior radio show (which is increasingly becoming one of the favorite forums for conservatives in Florida) on Monday night.

Rushing came out swinging for the FairTax.

The FairTax is critical to the future of America and Im the only Senate candidate that will champion the FairTax legislation, said Rushing. As a small-business owner, I know firsthand that the FairTax legislation would supercharge our economy. If the FairTax was passed today, my small business could immediately hire another employee. If it has such a positive impact on my small business, just think of the job creation impact it would have on mid- to large-sized companies.

Our current deficit is a basic negative cash flow problem, he added. Our expenses exceed our income. To increase our income, we must broaden the tax base while at the same time lowering everyones tax rate. Today, 10 percent of all households pay 70 percent of our taxes, and therefore it is mathematically impossible to generate a neutral or positive cash flow from this model. The FairTax will enable employers to hire and will broaden the tax base to 100 percent of all households in America; this includes both U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants.

Additional benefit of the FairTax, beyond just reducing the unemployment rate, is that it will provide revenue to relieve the current fiscal burden of Medicare and Social Security benefits, continued the candidate. I will make it my top priority to get the FairTax legislation passed through the Senate.
