Sen. Mike Fasano Scolds Public Service Commission Over Public Records Link

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, has sent a letter to Public Service Commission Chairman Art Graham criticising him for removing a link for public records requests from the PSC website, and asking him to put the link back up, noting that the PSC has been slow to fulfill public records requests in recent years.

"Given the systemic problems over the past few years regarding the demonstrated lack of access to public records, the wrongful denial and unacceptable delays in providing such public records, and the questionable conduct of some who have served on the commission, this is not the time to remove the general publics access to commission records.

"It is my opinion that this apparent lack of transparency at the PSC reflects negatively upon thepublics perception of the Florida Public Service Commission. On behalf of my constituents and the people of the state of Florida, I respectfully request that you take immediate action to correct this deficiency," Fasano's letter reads in part.

Fasano has been critical of the PSC recently, filing a bill in December requiring PSC commissioners to abide by the code of judicial conduct during administrative proceedings.
