Scott Walker to Drop Out of GOP Presidential Race

Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wisc., will end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination at a press event on Monday night, the national media is reporting.

Something of a folk hero to the GOP at the start of the campaign for his battles with government unions, Walker began at the top of the polls but he was eclipsed by other candidates and even his attempts to focus on Iowa, home of the first caucus, did not pay off. Walker has sunk in recent polls including pulling 1 percent in a recent CNN/ORC poll.

Walker becomes the second candidate to drop out of the GOP field. Earlier this month, former Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, ended his bid.
