Scott Scores Rare Daily Double: Love from RPOF and TEA Party
It's not often that the Republican Party of Florida and the Florida TEA Party agree, but both organizations lavished Gov. Scott's State of the State address with praise Tuesday night.
I commend Governor Scott on his first successful State of the State address," said RPOF Chairman Dave Bitner. "Tonight, he reiterated that he is committed to keeping the promises he made to the voters while on the campaign trail.
"He clearly communicated to the people of Florida that he is willing to make the tough decisions to ensure our state enjoys a prosperous future. The governors message of fiscal restraint and job creation showed that he is focused on doing what is right for Florida and getting people back to work.
Florida TEA (Taxed Enough Already), some of whose candidates were sued unsuccessfully by RPOF over ballot eligibility issues last fall, supported Scott, while jabbingestablishment Republicans.
"I was pleased with the tone and subjects covered by the governor," said TEA Chairwoman Peg Dunmire."We strongly support Governor Scott's efforts to bring the state budget under control and be on the side of the taxpayers of Florida.
"Governor Scott will have a tough fight on his hands to overcome the forces of special interests to implement his bold initiatives," Dunmire added. "We will do what we can to back up his agenda when it comes to less taxes, less government and more individual freedom."
