Scott Orders Flags to Half-Staff for Tampa Army Specialist

Gov. Rick Scott has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Tampa, Hillsborough County and the Capitol on Wednesday in honor of U.S. Army Specialist Chrstophe J. Marquis, who died from wounds received in Afghanistan.

Marquis, 40, a member of 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, was from Tampa.

He was wounded in the Kandahar province, Afghanistan, on Aug. 27, 2011 when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was pronounced dead Sept. 4, 2011, in Landstuhl, Germany.

The order by Scott is for state and national flags outside the county courthouse of Hillsborough County and the city hall of Tampa.
