Scott Maddox Thinks Florida Dems Doomed by National GOP Trend
Fresh from losing to Republican Adam Putnam in the battle to be Floridas next agriculture and consumer services commissioner, former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox said on Thursday the strong national trend for the Republicans was too much for his campaign.
We made a spirited run, getting nearly 2 million votes, but we faced a national tide that had nothing to do with our race, wrote Maddox to supporters. Things like that sometimes happen in politics. I am proud of the fact that we made consumer protection a priority in this election. I am proud that we took a strong stance against offshore oil drilling, and convinced others to join us. It is my great hope that because of our opposition to that issue, the winners of the Cabinet races will now have a very difficult time approving oil leases in Floridas coastal waters.
