The Scott Campaign's View of Romney Backing McCollum: 'Political Establishment' at Work
GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Scotts campaign struck back against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney backing Attorney General Bill McCollum, Scotts chief rival for the Republican nomination. While McCollum supporters say the Romney endorsement shows that conservatives can back the attorney general, the Scott team said it was a matter of one political insider backing another.
It should surprise no one that the political establishment is frantically trying to prop up Bill McCollums faltering campaign, said Scott spokeswoman Jennifer Baker. But no endorsement can change the fact that Bill McCollum is a career politician and former lobbyist who sat on his hands and watched Floridas economy crater; in contrast, Rick Scott is a conservative outsider who will hold government accountable and turn the state around.
