Scott Campaign Responds to Cretul's Attack

Late Friday, House Speaker Larry Cretul, R-Ocala, ripped into Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott. Cretul backs Attorney General Bill McCollum for the Republican nomination.

The Scott campaign responded on Saturday, focusing more on McCollum than Cretul.

"Speaker Cretul's attack on Rick Scott is just more of the same political insiders sticking together to preserve the status quo, said Joe Kildea, a spokesman for the Scott campaign. The only policy that career politician Bill McCollum has advocated is self-preservation. McCollum has flip-flopped on the issues that matter most to Floridians to try to stay in office. From immigration reform to public campaign finance to funding embryonic stem cell research, McCollum's policies only match that which is good for Bill McCollum at the time. Furthermore, after running an almost entirely negative campaign which has backfired, it sounds like Speaker Cretul's criticisms would be better laid on the McCollum campaign and not Rick Scott who has taken clear, positive, conservative, and detailed stances on the important issues."
