Sandy Adams Hits the Road -- and Obama's Budget Proposal
Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams announced on Tuesday that she will be hitting the road across her district next week. She will hold events in Oviedo and Port Orange next Monday before hitting Titusville that Wednesday and Apopka on Saturday, Feb. 26.
Adams also took aim at President Barack Obamas proposed budget in a statement released on Tuesday.
The presidents budget proposal is just another disingenuous attempt to continue spending too much, borrowing too much and taxing too much, Adams said. President Obama promised that his trillion-dollar stimulus would keep unemployment under 8 percent, but after a 21-month streak of 9 percent or higher unemployment, it is clear that reckless spending doesnt create jobs it only creates more debt. Rather than charting a new course toward fiscal responsibility and job creation, the presidents budget proposal will impose a $1.6 trillion tax hike and add $7.2 trillion to the nations debt, sending our country further down the path to bankruptcy and putting the government on track to almost double its size since he took office.
Not only does the presidents budget lead us further into debt, it is misguided in its approach, increasing funding for climate change research instead of programs that create jobs, like human spaceflight, added Adams. This further highlights his inability to adequately address what the countrys economic priorities should be. We have an obligation to our children and grandchildren to address our countrys economic problems now instead of continuing to kick the can down the road. While the presidents budget proposal is just that, a proposal, it will be up to the Republican-led House to pass fiscally responsible appropriations bills that fund the federal government. In order to create jobs and get the economy back on track, it is imperative that the focus remains on cutting spending, keeping taxes low and reforming the government.
