RPOF Executive Director Andy Palmer Stepping Down

Less than two weeks after Lenny Curry took the reins as chairman of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), Executive Director Andy Palmer announced in a statement released on Monday that he would be stepping down on Oct. 14. Palmer -- who had held the same post in 2005-2006 -- had been serving in that position since January. He will be joining the law firm of Metz, Husband and Daugthon, PA, as a senior policy adviser.

Republican leaders from across the state praised Palmer on Monday.

Not only is Andy Palmer a trusted adviser to Republican leaders across the state, but he was instrumental in the nationally recognized success of Floridas Presidency 5, said Gov. Rick Scott. "He helped restore confidence in the Republican Party of Florida and got the organization back on track financially. Andy will be sorely missed.

"Over the past few years, Ive had the opportunity to work closely with Andy, and he has become a trusted friend and confidant. Under his leadership the party has prospered and I am sorry to see him go, said House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park. "I wish him the best of luck and look forward to working with him as he pursues a new venture.

Curry focused on Palmers relationship with the late Dave Bitner who served as RPOF chairman until his death last month.

"Dave and Andy helped restore the confidence and enthusiasm of Republicans across the state," said Curry. "As the 2012 elections approach, our party will win due to the planning and preparation put in place by Andy. Andy will be missed, but I wish him well and know that he will continue to be someone who advances our Republican cause."

The RPOF is already searching for a new executive director.
