
RPOF Demands TV Stations Take Down 'Misleading' Ads
The Republican Party of Florida sent a letter toall TV station managers in the state on Monday regarding a Florida Democratic Party TV ad that contains "intentionally false and misleading statements" about Gov. Rick Scott.
"As you know, yourstations obligationtoservethe public interestrequires youtodecline to air false and misleading advertising, and unlike an advertisement aired by a candidate, yourstation canbeheld liablefordistributingdefamatorymessages," reads the letter. "Withthisletter, yourstation is on noticethatthe FDP advertisement includes false andmisleadingaccusations that are defamatory. Your station must cease and desist from airing thisadvertisement."
The letter refers to a recently-released ad from the FDP accusing the governor of taking the Fifth 75 timesin lawsuits concerning his former company, Columbia/HCA, committing Medicare fraud.
