RPOF Chairman John Thrasher Condemns U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's Ad

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Sen. John Thrasher of Jacksonville released a statement Friday disparaging Democratic U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's recent negative ad aimed at his District 8 congressional opponent, Daniel Webster. In the ad Grayson claims Webster "doesn't love this country," which is quite an indictment.

The ad, which FactCheck.org calls "one of the nastiest we've seen so far this year, and it's false," compelled Thrasher to say this:

"Daniel Webster is a friend, a patriot, and a true servant to the people of Florida. Alan Grayson's latest attacks are deeply unfortunate, offensive, and a stark reminder of how extreme Alan Grayson actually is. Grayson's ad questions the patriotism of every American who received college deferments or were unable to serve due to a physical condition. The citizens of Congressional District 8 know better than to believe Mr. Grayson's nasty and misleading attacks against Daniel Webster."

The RPOF release states that Republican Webster "received college deferments while attending Georgia Tech, where he served in the Army ROTC program." He later reported for duty but was dismissed due to a physical condition.
