RPOF Blasts Loranne Ausley for 'Extreme Liberal Voting Record'
With former Rep. Loranne Ausley, the Democrat in the CFO race, on the attack against Senate President Jeff Atwater, the Republican candidate, for backing expensive projects, the Republican Party of Florida is going on the counterattack.
"Loranne Ausley's desperate, deceptive election-year stunts won't hide her lifelong record as one of the most liberal members of the Florida Legislature, said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. She never met a tax she wouldn't raise or a massive spending program she wouldn't shove down the throats of Floridians. Her soft-on-crime record should keep Floridians awake at night.
"Jeff Atwater is running on his record of making Florida government accountable; even the Florida Public Interest Research Group praised him for his efforts to make Florida's government more transparent and accountable, added Whitaker. Loranne Ausley is running away from her extreme liberal voting record."
UPDATE: The Ausley campaign sent back a response.
"If Senate President Jeff Atwater runs on his record, which includes such gems as building the $48 million 'Tallahassee Taj Mahal,' the infamous $110 million 'Prison to Nowhere,' and abolishing measures that provided some sense of accountability in the state budgeting process, then I guarantee that Loranne Ausley will be the next CFO," replied Kevin Cate, a spokesman for Ausley.
