RPOF Applauds Court Decision Dismissing Jim Greer's Lawsuit

Former Florida Republican Party boss Jim Greer took another hit in court today when a judge dismissed a civil lawsuit against his old employer.

Greer claimed the party reneged on a $123,000 severance package after he resigned amid a cloud of controversy.

The longtiime crony and handpicked choice of Gov. Charlie Crist was subsequently indicted by a statewide grand jury on charges that he stole $125,000 from the party through a money-laundering scheme.

Republican Party of Florida Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker hailed Seminole County Circuit Judge Alan Dickey's decision Tuesday.

Were pleased that Judge Dickey rightfully dismissed Jim Greers meritless lawsuit against the party. The judge rightfully saw through Greers attempt to sue, but then plead the Fifth Amendment, so he would not have to be deposed and answer legitimate questions under oath," Whitaker said in a statement.

Dickey said Greer, who was not at the hearing in Sanford, could refile his suit later.

Greer's attorney, Damon Chase, has predicted that his client's criminal case will be dismissed, which would allow the ex-party chief to renew his civil suit against the GOP in the future.
