Ros-Lehtinen Heads to Haiti to Mark Earthquake Anniversary
Marking the one-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will continue touring that island nation on Tuesday.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to travel to Haiti as we observe this week the one-year anniversary of last Januarys devastating earthquake, said Ros-Lehtinen. There is no question that the last year has presented its share of challenges for the people of Haiti, but it is also important to recognize how far Haiti has come in the past 12 months. Having last visited Haiti six months ago, I am looking forward to seeing firsthand the progress made and assessing the challenges that remain.
This marks the first trip abroad for the congresswoman in her new role as Foreign Affairs chair.
