Ron Saunders Names House Democratic Leadership Team

With incoming House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, announcing on Friday that he would name Rep. John Legg, R-Port Richey, as speaker pro tempore and Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, R-Miami, as House majority leader, on Monday incoming House Democratic Leader Ron Saunders of Key West responded by naming key members of his leadership team.

Saunders named Rep. Joe Gibbons, D-Pembroke Park, as the Democratic leader pro tem, taking the place of Rep. Geri Thompson of Orlando. Saunders named Rep. Evan Jenne of Fort Lauderdale to serve as his whip and Rep. Rick Kriseman of St. Petersburg to serve as the Democratic policy chair.
