Ron Paul Wins Pasco County Straw Poll

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the Republican Party of Pasco Countys presidential straw poll, though Bill Bunting with the county GOP insists that Pauls backers included supporters from out of county.

Paul dominated the field with 171 votes. Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich placed second with 51 votes followed by former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 30 votes. Texas Gov. Rick Perry took 14 votes followed by former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania with 6 votes and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann with 3 votes. Businessman Herman Cain -- who has pulled out of the race -- took 1 vote, tying him with two former governors: Jon Huntsman of Utah and Gary Johnson of New Mexico.
