Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann and Palin Emerge to Challenge Obama in Comic Book Straw Poll
On Thursday, BOOM! Studios, a publisher of comic books, announced the winner of its presidential straw poll. Boom! held a contest to see which presidential candidates it would publish biographical comics of. If more than 1,500 supporters ordered a comic of their candidate, the book would be published.
President Barack Obama topped the poll -- no surprise since he was the only Democrat in the field of 10 candidates. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who announced on Wednesday that she would not seek the presidency in 2012, placed second.
Only two of the current crop of Republican candidates generated more than 1,500 orders -- U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas came in third while U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann placed fourth.
Missing out -- in order of finish: former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, businessman Herman Cain, former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and, in dead last, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas.
