Ron Paul Draws Heavy Fire From Jon Huntsman
U.S. Rep. Ron Pauls rise in Iowa could lead to the Texas congressman doing well elsewhere -- something clearly on the mind of one of his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination.
On Thursday, former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah released a Web video slamming Paul for newsletters he had sent out decades ago.
"Representative Paul's newsletters raise serious questions about his judgment, character, and whether New Hampshire voters can trust him to lead," said Tim Miller, a spokesman for Huntsman. "The newsletters also make it impossible for Ron Paul to take on President Obama successfully in November. We need a nominee who can beat Obama, turn our economy around, and restore trust in Washington."
While Paul is on the rise in Iowa, Huntsman has his focus somewhere else -- namely New Hampshire. Looks like the Huntsman camp is concerned that a Paul win in Iowa could lead to momentum in the Granite State -- with Paul, not Huntsman, as the main alternative to Mitt Romney.
