Ron DeSantis Wants Investigation Of Intelligence on Islamic State

From his perch as chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Security, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., wants answers from the Pentagon over charges that intelligence about military operations Islamic State (IS) terrorism had been altered.

DeSantis teamed up with U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, in writing U.S. Defense Sec. Ashton Carter and Department of Defense Inspector General Jon Rymer over the allegations.

“I am concerned by allegations that political objectives are being taken into consideration regarding our national security,” DeSantis said on Monday. “The data collected by our military personnel and intelligence agents is critical to accurately addressing threats and should not be influenced or altered to fit an advantageous political narrative. The committee is taking these reports very seriously and we will investigate fully.”

DeSantis is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016.
