Ron DeSantis Wants Answers from Obama on NSA Monitoring Congress

With reports out that the National Security Agency (NSA) monitored communications between members of Congress and Israeli officials and forwarded them to the White House, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., wants answers.

DeSantis sent a letter to President Barack Obama on Monday on the matter.

“Congress needs to get to the bottom of these allegations and the Obama administration must provide answers,” DeSantis said. “It appears that information gathered from the monitoring and interception of correspondence between the Israeli government and Congress may have been used for political reasons and not because of national security concerns. These allegations raise serious concerns regarding the separation of powers and how the administration used its intelligence gathering capability.”

DeSantis is running in this year’s U.S. Senate race.
