Ron DeSantis: 'Sad Day for Justice' as DOJ Doesn't Go After Lois Lerner

With Wednesdays news that the U.S. Department of Justice will not prosecute former IRS official Lois Lerner for refusing to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform over the IRS targeting conservative and tea party groups, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., offered his thoughts.

"It is a sad day for justice and accountability in government, DeSantis said on Wednesday. Lois Lerner weaponized the IRS and used her authority to infringe the rights of American citizens. She has consistently misled Congress and obstructed congressional investigations. Yet, the IRS allowed Lerner to retire with a six-figure taxpayer-financed pension and the DOJ will not prosecute her for being held in contempt of Congress. This is not the way a government of, by, and for the people is supposed to operate."
