Ron DeSantis Keeps the Heat on IRS Boss
With a federal judge threatening to hold IRS Commissioner John Koskinen in contempt, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., continued to insist the IRS boss is stonewalling. Earlier in the week, DeSantis called for Koskinen to go, saying Congress should impeach him.
“IRS Commissioner Koskinen continues to stonewall both our congressional investigation and court orders aiming to uncover more information about their illicit targeting,” DeSantis said on Thursday. “Does Commissioner Koskinen believe that he should be held to a different standard than the American people? Commissioner Koskinen has shown contempt for both the American people and the courts of law. A taxpayer would never get away with obstructing an IRS investigation in this manner. Koskinen's noncompliance is unacceptable, and the president should take action to remove him immediately. If the president won’t, Congress will.”
DeSantis is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016.
