Ron DeSantis Jabs Obama's Cuba Policy as Embassy in Havana Set to Reopen

Running in the Republican primary to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., slammed the Obama administration’s Cuba policy even as U.S. Sec. of State John Kerry is scheduled to reopen the embassy in Havana on Friday.

“It’s a sad day when America celebrates the establishment of diplomatic ties with a tyrannical dictatorship that has connections to world-wide terrorism,” DeSantis said on Thursday. “Legitimizing the Castro dictatorship undermines our security and will, tragically, marginalize the pro-American freedom fighters and dissidents who are bravely standing up to the regime inside Cuba."
