RNC's Statement on Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera
Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement Tuesday on Florida Gov. Rick Scotts choice of Carlos Lopez-Cantera to fill the vacant position of lieutenant governor:
Carlos Lopez-Cantera will make an outstanding lieutenant governor, and I applaud Governor Rick Scott on his decision, said Chairman Priebus. Carlos Lopez-Cantera has exactly the kind of experience Florida needs; he is a proven leader and will be an important voice in our party.
Hes also made history today by becoming Floridas first Hispanic lieutenant governor. He is one of over 160 Hispanic Republicans in public office who are working diligently to keep government accountable and making sure our country continues to move in the right direction at the local, state and federal levels.
As a Floridian, Im proud to call Carlos Lopez-Cantera my new lieutenant governor, said Co-Chairman Day. He has an admirable record of public service, a commitment to conservative principles, and the ability to bring people together. Im confident he will make a great leader in Tallahassee and will be an effective advocate for the Republican Party.
