RNC Quick to Highlight Obama, Wasserman-Schultz Split Over Cuba

The Republican National Committee pounced on a piece in The Hill posted in the Washington, D.C., publication Wednesday, which runs down the differences between President Barack Obama and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, a congresswoman from Weston.

Wasserman-Shultz is an ardent supporter of the U.S. embargo of Cuba, but Obama has eased travel restrictions to the communist-ruled island 90 miles south of Florida during his time in office.

In an e-mail linking to the piece, RNC spokesperson Ryan Tronovitch stated that the move could cut into Obama's support among Hispanic voters, especially in South Florida. Coupled with recent missteps on Israel triggering concern among Jewish voters, "the two could prove critical in a close race in Florida," Tronovitch stated.
