Rick Scott Wins; Now to Unify Republicans While Bashing the Insiders
With the Republican nomination secured, Rick Scott issued an invitation to all Floridians from all parties to join his campaign. And he'll take all the help he can get.
"What I say to every Floridian, come join us. If you can imagine Florida with full employment, come join us. If you can imagine schools that put our children first, come join us. If you can imagine a government that is small and smart and focused on serving you, come join us."
The Republican establishment wholeheartedly supported his primary opponent, Bill McCollum, and criticized Scott throughout the race. Now he has a chance at being their leader.
"In Tallahassee tonight, the deal-makers are crying in their cocktails," Scott declared to a roaring crowd.
"With your collective support, tonight we have sent a clear message to the Washington insiders, the Tallahassee insiders and the special interests that fund both of them. The message? It's time to clean house and hold government accountable."
The multimillionaire made a strong appeal to regular Floridians when he pointed out the fact that he will work for them instead of special interests.
"It's sobering news for the special interests," he said. "They know I don't owe them anything."
