Rick Scott Takes Center Stage in Wolf Blitzer's Situation Room on CNN
CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer interviewed Gov.-elect Rick Scott Thursday, fresh off a meeting of governors with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
According to Scott, the president said the right things about working with the states, but was more doubtful about what it will mean in substance.
"Who knows?" Scott said, when asked if he could work with President Obama.
Blitzer also peppered Scott with Florida-specific questions on immigration, health care and offshore oil drilling.
Scott stated that he was opposed to the seven-year moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, announced Wednesday. He said he supported Attorney General Bill McCollum (his opponent in the Republican primary) in his lawsuit to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act. On the prospect of an Arizona-like immigration law coming to Florida, Scott noted that the Legislature had already filed a bill to that effect, and that he would sign such a bill as long as it did not enable racial profiling.
"Depending on how it's written, absolutely," Scott said when asked if he would sign an immigration bill like Arizona's.
